Slow down for
HALDIMAND—Throughout the county, local residents have placed the red Slow Down placards on their property, reminding motorists to be mindful of their speed and driving behaviour.
To The Haldimand Press
An idea that began with Craig Grice and the Haldimand Affiliate for the insurance Brokers Association of Ontario, is now helping to keep Haldimand roads safe.
“We, the Haldimand Affiliate for the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario, believed that this was a great project and opportunity for public awareness that represents a connection to our industry and clients,” said Dennis Howden, President – Broker/Owner. “We stood before Council to get temporary sign placement approval and the response has been overwhelming.”
“Responsible driving behaviour contributes significantly to a safer community. The simple act of being aware of your speed may assist in preventing a collision and reducing injury. I wish to thank the local insurance companies for donating these ‘Slow Down’ signs and for being a partner in community highway safety,” said Haldimand County OPP Detachment Commander Phil Carter.
“We all want our roads to be safe for everyone. Please slow down,” said Councillor Craig Grice.
There are a limited number of signs and they are only approved for use in Haldimand County. Contact your local insurance brokerage to place a sign.
